Eucalyptus citriodora Essential Oil

Also known as Lemon Eucalyptus. Super active, an odor profile similar to palmarosa-citronella, this oil is steam distilled from organically grown trees in Madagascar

Product Information

Eucalyptus citriodora

Myrtaceae family

Organically grown and steam distilled in Madagascar

Eucalyptus citridora is now on the EPA list of acceptable mosquito repellants.

Arctander says

The oil is a colorless to pale yellow, mobile liquid which has a strong and very fresh, rosy-citronella-like odor and a sweet, balsamic-floral dryout note. The oil is not much used in perfumery with the exception of low-cost soap perfumes, soap flakes, detergents, etc. This information was current as of 1960!

Battaglia says

Eucalyptus citriodora has been shown to be therapeutically viable for

Anti-fungal

Anti-inflammatory

Anti-microbial

Anti-oxidant

Insecticidal

Good for upper respiratory tract infections.

The Complete Guide to Aromatherapy has a lot of great information on Eucalyptus oils—

Eucalyptus Globulus

Myrtaceae family

Organically farmed and steam distilled in Australia. This tree grows happily all over the world; ours is Australian.

Unrectified and complex, some might even call it "dirty." This is great for massage and and topical uses. A real, true, vibrant Eucalyptus.

Eucalyptus globulus has a high cinele content with camphoraceous overtones. It smells very 'typical" for eucalyptus. Traditionally in western medicine. This was the only eucalyptus used

Eucalyptus globulus oil is usually rectified, or fractionated to isolate components to cut other, more expensive oils. The bulk of Eucalyptus globulus goes into the pharmaceutical industry, for cough drops, lozenges, muscle rubs and ointments, and industrial fragrance

Eucalyptus Radiata

Myrtaceae family

Organically grown and steam distilled in South Africa

Sometimes known as narrow-leaved peppermint gum, this eucalypt is basically walks the middle path. The 1,8-cineole levels are high, yet it is not too overpowering. Higher pinene and limonene levels make up that difference. The scent is fresh and peppery. The oil is colorless to pale yellow.

Eucalyptus oils are known primarily for their brilliant effect on the respiratory system.

Eucalyptus polybractea

This description includes all the Eucalypti we have, side by side for greater ease of comparison.

In general, Eucalyptus oil is considered great for the respiratory system, with added aromatherapy benefits as an insect repellent, aches and pains, and as an antiviral.

Eucalyptus polybractea

Myrtaceae family

Commonly known as Blue Mallee

Organically grown and distilled in Australia

This polybractea is actually the most popular eucalyptus currently harvested in Australia, at least partly due to the very high cineole (90%) content. Doesn't really grow outside of Australia. You might say this eucalyptus oil is the "sweetest" one—it doesn’t carry the lower aldehydic notes common in globulus, or example.

Arctander says

Eucalyptus polybractea is a colorless to pale yellow mobile liquid of strong but somewhat sweet-camphoraceous and fresh-cooling odor, and it has a similar taste. Its dryout on a perfume blotter is distinctly different from that of a globulus or similar oil—it is not woody-sweet or heady, paint-like. There is hardly any dryout note at all, just a clean fadeout.

Tanka—the Eucalyptus

The eucalyptus
Rained its shimmering jade leaves
Below its bowers
Where you and I slept the night
Soft ground, a blanket of green

Pink Eucalyptus Flowers

Pink eucalyptus flowers
(The flowers are out)
Are scented honey sweet
For bees to buzz about.
Pink eucalyptus flowers
(The flowers are out)
Are fair as any rose
For us to sing about.

Eucalyptus Tree

Laying beneath your canopy admiring your silvery leaves
Before a wash of sky, I rest with enraptured ease

Your foliage so appeasing in shades of blue and green
Diffusing your balmy oils thus palliative and serene

Supplying me with oxygen, guarding my precious wealth
Reducing air's pollution - essential to human health

You shed your outer ribbons of bark in summer each year

Revealing a radiant surface so colourful, smooth and sheer

Fundamentally affording Koalas substantial, nourishing feed
Generously protecting wildlife, providing homes and seed

Native flowers oozing nectar, attract insects such as bees
Birds peck at gumnut pits and devour them easy as peas

So grounded and assured as your roots do fondly creep
Embracing Mother Earth connected, strong and deep
