Carrot seed essential oil is a yellow or amber colored to pale orange brown liquid of a dry-woody,  root-like, earthy odor. The initial notes are sweet and fresh, but the tenaceous undertone and dryout is heavy, wet-earthy, fat-oily, slightly spicy. The flavor is warm-spicy, slightly biting at high concentration, but sweet and piquant.

It blends well with citruses, cassie, mimosa, geranium, and cedar.

Carrot seed is also known to be a cell regenerator for the skin and can be used in facial blends for various indications, including fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, and skin orritations such as eczema.

It's also used extensively in food, spice blends and alcoholic beverages.
