December 13, 2008 Hello Everyone The holidays are upon us, and this year at Enfleurage we are all about Roses! We've got rose oils, rose candles, rose butter, and our new warm and rosy holiday blend, Sugar Rose. I’m just on my way back from Colombia and have plenty of essential news to share, with new oils and also some gift ideas. Most of these are already in the store, except Gardenia oil, Tahitian Lemon, neroli butter and rose butter, and they will be here Sunday the 14th. That’s tomorrow. Sugar Rose! It’s our new holiday blend, a composition of Roses, Roses, Rock Rose, and other flowers, friends of roses, vanilla, frankincense, and a sexy spice makes our new and delightful warm and wonderful blend as a perfume for the skin or to scent the environment in a diffuser. Frankincense! I’ve been distilling the oil from Omani and Somali gum and we have both in the store. The oils are fantastic, and quite different from each other. The Somali has a bright burst of sunshine and lemon and is perhaps a little wilder, while the Omani is as lovely and immaculate and complex as the land herself. They are both distilled in copper here in New York, and I think you won’t find a lovelier frankincense anywhere. All notes are present, without the harshness one sometimes encounters—these oils are highly psychotropic as well—and will help meditation, sleep and relaxation, seriously. Frankincense heightens emotional awareness and while I usually don’t like to get involved touting oils’ actions, these have pummeled me enough to demand it. Absolutely spectacular. Tahitian Lemon Leaves! Ok, he’s “just” a petitgrain, but here is a big strapping oil who doesn’t really know he’s a citrus. He’s leggy and bold, fierce yet fruity. Distilled in Colombia, where our Enfleurage oils come from, he was an experiment, a quick trip into Technicolor stardom. In a reversal of the usual, his almost leathery, green and woody notes evaporate off, leaving a sweet as sugar, lemon candy body, with a robust floral undernote and a hint of something that could almost be coconut. We have a very limited quantity of this little guy—he’s for lemon lovers, petitgrain playboys and fruit fanatics. Gardenia! I’m a little shocked to say this, but our gardenia is even better than it was—stronger and more stunning, bolder and brighter. I am writing this here in Colombia as I sit smelling the new batch for the first time and I have to start with the word delightful. Completely delightful! Delicious! Delectable! Desirable! Everything else faded as I sank into gardenia heaven, my mouth watering. Lovely flower candy! Tuberose! Speaking of lovely and delicious, our new tuberose, like the gardenia, is also even better than before! Stronger, sweeter, and now, instead of being surrounded by 1000 blossoms, it’s like being surrounded by 5000! Vanilla! We just received out new vanilla absolute from Madagascar and he is darker, richer, and lovelier than before as well! What is going on here? Our oils are getting better and more deeply redolent all the time! Sweet warm nights, love and coziness! Neroli Butter! We have a new, one time only butter made from organic palm oil and orange blossoms! It’s ridiculous, delicious, incredible, and completely insane. Something about the composition of these butters brings out the scent of the flowers in a big surprising bloom as the skin warms. Rose Butter! Soft and subtle, nurturing and ethereal, this is a perfect winter moisturizer—nourishing, rich and thick, the base is from organically grown African palm from Colombia’s northern coasts and the fragrance is pure rose. Of all our butters the rose is the lightest scent, the most subtle—perfect for an all over the body treat after bathing, when you want a subtle undertone, just a hint of soft sweet flowers. We still have our other, exceedingly popular butters: Gardenia, Chiclé and Tuberose. These are stronger, more assertive in their scent, and equally as exquisite and lovely to rub into your skin before braving the cold! They are also excellent lip balms. And formulating with these beauties will make for some wonderful and unique lotions, creams, or….? If you make your own skincare please call us and ask about our butters. Shopping for the holidays? Nothing beats Enfleurage essential oils and blends combined with one of our fantastic new Thai diffusers, or dressed up with one of the utterly, amazingly cool and fabulous crystal bottles and incense sets from Arabia. You won’t find these anywhere else. Not sure about giving essential oils? We’ve got plenty of other things—Sonoma Lavender is our new fresh and handmade range built around lavender from Northern California. We’ve got bath and body, reed diffusers and more! Or give a cozy winter with Dreamtime microwavable pillows and spa booties, lumbar support and lavender eye masks. And of course our usual tried and true essential standbys are always here: Aroma Naturals candles, Pacifica bath and body, Japanese incense, and of course, Primal Soaps. We have a great selection of appropriate and unusual gifts in all price ranges and plenty of things exclusive to Enfleurage. Hope to see you soon! Aromatically yours Trygve |
